The UpStreet addition is rolling toward completion with final inspection approvals anticipated by the second week of February. Our painting team did a fabulous job and now all that remains is the installation of the carpet, hanging some light fixtures and installing the doors. We now have 7 added classrooms and 1 Special Treasures room in the addition. There are some changes that still have to be done in the existing UpStreet and staff is working with the construction team on the timing of this work.
Renovations of CrossRoads, Route 101 and The Walk are also nearing completion which mainly revolves around painting. The drywaller's should be complete by the end of this week allowing for the painting to be started next week as well as wood trim and door installations. The gathering area has been greatly expanded and four new breakout rooms have been added to The Walk area. A new bathroom for Special Treasures is also nearing completion. We expect that the entire renovation on the second floor will be complete in 2-3 weeks.
Adult ministry meeting rooms adjacent to the Ministry Center are complete (except for the permanent doors) and are being used frequently. When the UpStreet children are moved to their new classrooms there will be seven meeting rooms available for Adult Ministries. Painting and minor renovations to four of the rooms will take place during the upcoming summer months in preparation for the 2016 ministry season. In the Spring we will also finish up the landscaping and do a final cleaning of the brick. A special thank you once again, to volunteer painters, carpenters, cabinetmakers, demolitions crews and cleaners who have given of their time and talent. To date CLC volunteers have worked approximately 1900 hours. There is more work yet to be done and you are welcome to participate. Notices will be sent out via Connections and emails with dates and times for you to participate.
Our look ahead for the next two weeks will bring some significant visual changes to the UpStreet Addition. As the weeks progress you will see the roofing being installed, the stone and brick will be delivered, sidewalks poured and the start of heating/cooling duct work, electrical conduit and fire protection piping. Attention volunteers painters: Please consider using your gifting in December and January to join our painting team to accomplish this important part of the addition. Our coordinator is Neil Versluis. To volunteer please contact the church office at 616-847-2540 or email@example.com. Many hands serving the Lord's house is a beautiful blessing!
10-16-15Our new building is taking more shape every day. This week most of the exterior sheeting should be installed. Over the next two weeks, the roof trusses and sheeting will be installed. In the Ministry Center, you will begin to see studded walls for adult ministry. Please continue to pray for the safety of all the workers and for continued progress toward completion.9-3-15Next week the project begins! A Job Site office will be placed on Fulton Street opposite our parking lot. From September 8-12 the Main Entrance on Fulton Street will be closed to allow installation of a new entry walkway. The doors on Columbus Street will be open for anyone coming to church during the week. The Main Entrance will be open for services on Sunday, September 13.
Ground Breaking, Sunday, September 13
We will hold a Ground Breaking Ceremony between services on Sunday, September 13. From 10:15-10:35 AM, we will gather in the parking lot outside our building to commit this project to God for the building up his church in our community. Please join us as children, young people, and adults participate in this short ceremony of dedication and celebration.
8-17-2015Good news! We have received bids back on our building expansion, and the cost is less than our projections! Contracts have been signed, and we expect to be breaking ground sometime in early fall. Thank you for your consistent and generous giving to the project! We have $650,000 in the bank toward the projected cost of $1,344,052. Please continue to give as we enter this new phase, increasing our capacity to impact children, adults, and youth with the good news of the Bible.
